Kevin & Emily Lau

Edmund Lau was born with two holes in his heart, a right club foot, slightly defectiveleft foot, and a crooked middle finger on each hand. He had cerebral palsy and suffered fungal growth in his heart at 2 1/2 years old due to fever. He was given powerful drugs with harmful side effects that affected his brain, eyes, ears and liver. He spent almost 2 1/2 years at University Hospital with a body temperature of 38 degrees Celsius constantly. After his heart operation, he was diagnosed with nephritic syndrome due to long term paracetamol intake and was in ICU for a month. He also had scoliosis and needed to put braces for his spine and legs. He looked like a robot but praise God for the gift of his cheerful spirit. He was operated for his clubfoot and started to walk independently at 7. Being an A.D.H.D. child as well, he was late in starting in early intervention program and went for special classes until he was 12. He joined Kairos last year and has improved tremendously in his academics even though he has lapsed for 5 months due to an operation for his hip joint displacement and chicken pox.

Thanks for the effort, patience, love and prayers from Kairos' staff. Edmund is happy and enjoys learning in the centre now. Praise the Lord.
